چکیده

INTRODUCTION We propose a low-cost foot scanner to replace the expensive ones. Components used in our scanner and shape acquisition method are entirely different from those of other classical foot scanners. Several PC cameras are used instead of expensive CCD cameras. Also, the suggested scanner does not require expensive moving mechanism, emitters (laser generator or pattern generator) and some controllers. In shape acquisition process, the foot database concept is newly introduced. And we used stereovision technique and several deformation techniques to reconstruct a foot model. The scanner is made in a form that is simple enough to barely verify the proposed reconstruction method (Fig.1). For the verification, several strangely shaped foot models were fabricated and reconstructed using the suggested low-cost foot-scanner. Although the proposed scanner is not as accurate compared to the high-end active optical scanners, but it has been confirmed to be sufficient to be applied in custom-tailoring shoes.

Design and development of ShrewdShoe, a smart pressure sensitive wearable platform

This study introduces a wearable in-shoe system for real-time monitoring and measurement of the plantar pressure distribution of the foot using eleven sensing elements. The sensing elements utilized in ShrewdShoe have been designed in an innovative way, they are based on a barometric pressure sensor covered with a silicon coating. The presented sensing element has great linearity up to 300...

GNG based foot reconstruction for custom footwear manufacturing

Custom shoes manufacturing is one of the major challenges facing the footwear industry today. A shoe for everyone: it is a change in the production model in which each individual’s foot is the main focus, replacing traditional size systems based on population means. This paradigm shift represents a major effort for the industry, for which the design and not production becomes the main bottlenec...

Influence of running shoe midsole composition and custom foot orthotic intervention on lower extremity dynamics during running.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of varying running shoe midsole composition on lower extremity dynamics with and without a custom foot orthotic intervention. Three-dimensional dynamics were collected on 12 female runners who had completed 6 weeks of custom foot orthotic therapy. Participants completed running trials in 3 running shoe midsole conditions-with and without a ...

Derivation of template shoe-lasts for efficient fabrication of custom-ordered shoe-lasts

Custom-tailored products are meant by the products having various sizes and shapes to meet the customer’s different tastes or needs. Thus fabrication of custom-tailored products inherently involves inefficiency. Custom-tailoring shoes are not an exception because corresponding shoe-lasts must be custom-ordered. It would be nice if many template shoe-lasts had been cast in advance, the most simi...

Clinical uses of in-shoe pressure analysis in podiatric sports medicine.

Athletic injuries of the foot and lower extremity are commonly treated with custom foot orthoses. These devices usually provide immediate relief of the athlete's pain and dysfunction. Occasionally, however, they do not help, or even increase the patient's discomfort. We discuss a method of using in-shoe pressure-measurement systems to analyze the athletic patient's foot and lower-extremity func...
